Aki Kaurismäki's Crime and Punishment

- I'll tell you something. The man I killed is not important. I killed a louse, and became one myself. The number of lice remained constant, unless I was one from the very beginning - but that's not important. I wanted to kill a principle, not a man. Killing a man may've been a mistake but everybody's satisfied now, including me. And isolation means nothing to me, you know why? Because I've always been alone. Do you know what that means? That's why I don't want you to wait for me. Go away and live your own life. We've all got to die sometime. And there won't be a heaven afterwards, just something else.
- What?
- Spiders, or something. How should I know?

The Phantom of Liberty

"Chance governs all things; necessity, which is far from having the same purity, comes only later. If I have a soft spot for any one of my movies, it would be for The Phantom of Liberty, because it tries to work out just this theme."

Fellini's Roma

Cinema is an old whore, like circus and variety, who knows how to give many kinds of pleasure. Besides, you can't teach old fleas new dogs.

Gloomy Sunday

Good morning heartache
You old gloomy sight
Good morning heartache
Thought we said goodbye last night
I turned and tossed until it
seemed you had gone
But here you are with the dawn
Wish I'd forget you, but
you're here to stay
It seems I met you
When my love went away
Now everyday I start by saying to you
Good morning heartache
What's new?

Stop haunting me now
Can't shake you no how
Just leave me alone
I've got those Monday blues
Straight through Sunday blues
Good morning heartache
Here we go again
Good morning heartache
You're the one
Who knew me when
Might as well get use to
you hanging around
Good morning heartache
Sit down...
